Welcome to the Electronic Go Anywhere Device (EGAD) Blog!
The first EGAD I had was an HP 200LX. I still have it, but it didn't make the "synchronization leap" past the DOS era of PCs. The second EGAD I had was a Palm III and a Palm IIIc (I still have them too), and they were pretty good until I got a Mac and Palm didn't really make the leap to Mac OSX.
Nothing I've seen in wireless telephones moves me at all, even "Smart Phones". I think, having been spoiled by having real computers in my pocket, I've been waiting for a computer that had a phone function, especially one that had "Real Internet".
So now we have the iPhone, and frankly, I'm slowly falling in love with the idea of having an iPhone. It seems to be just about the perfect "pocket computer" - full Internet Access, a real web browser, enough power, screen clarity, and overall usability to be the kind of computer that I need to have with me most of the time - Go Anywhere.
But by far the iPhone isn't perfect.
And, by far, the iPhone isn't alone in attempting to capture this category.
